- File for Unemployment insurance if applicable
- Resume- continue to tweak and improve, have several versions
- Indeed, Monster, CareerBuilder, HotJobs
- Create accounts, if you don’t already have them
- Post resumes
- Search jobs
- Create automatic job search alerts (that come every day)
- LinkedIn
- Update/create profile (should mimic resume)
- Seek and add all of your past professional contacts
- Solicit recommendations from contacts you’ve worked with
- Join NYC CU Alumni group and other relevant networking groups on LinkedIn
- Staffing Firms/Head Hunters- contact every single one
- Networking- extremely important
- Seek out relevant networking events/groups and attend their parties/happy hours/etc. Attend as many as possible
- Target specific companies you are interested in
- Business Cards
- Go to office supply store and get non-perforated business cards for your computer/printer
- Print up a bunch with your name, email, phone number, and brief description (optional) about what you are/do; i.e. insurance professional…
